Profiles | The end of the Summer season was celebrated at the Leicester Hotel on March 22nd. A good turnout saw the introduction of some club awards for Summer. The 'Most Enthusiastic Team' award went to the Conjurers (E Grade Mixed) with an honourable mention to the Alchemists (D Grade Mixed). The 'Most Successful Team' was the Men's A, with an honourable mention to the Conjurers. A special 'In The Face of Adversity' award went to the Uni Womens team, who after being stuffed around, played their preliminary final with only five players! The highlight of the night was the introduction of the Golden and Holey Shoe awards for the flashiest and hardest working players of the club during Summer. With few competitors, the Golden Shoe went to the unfortunately injured Brendon ('they think I'm their God') King of Mens A & E-grade Mixed, while the Holey Shoe went to Philipa Davey in recognition of a consistently good season with the D-grade Mixed Alchemists. Beginner training has started, with a very big turnout at the two sessions held on March 26th and April 2nd. Welcome to all of you who have turned out so far as well as those intending to make it out in the next few weeks. Thanks to the help of a large group of coaches, we have had two successful nights of introducing inexperienced players to our wonderful game. Training continues each Wednesday night beginning at 6:15 pm, with full club training starting on Wednesday April 16th. An informal training session will take place when the club has a BBQ at Greenhill Rd. on Aprl 13th from 11:30 am onwards. The club will be looking to enter teams into the City Touch Monday night (Mens and Womens), Thursday night (Mixed) and Sunday morning (Mixed) competitions. Players who cannot make it to training but still want to play should inform(mail link) the club of their playing intentions asap. |
